Why should I use Tri Team Transport instead of flying my bike?
Here are some very good reasons why you should use Tri Team Transport instead of flying your bike to your next race:

    1. You must purchase, rent, or borrow a bike-case.
    2. You must or pay someone else to dismantle your bicycle and stuff it and everything else into the case. With most all airlines, you must also be careful not to exceed 50 lbs or size limits.
    3. With an airline, you have to lug that bike-case from your SUV or mini-van that you parked in long term parking which is a mile from the airport terminal to baggage check-in.
    4. Airlines charge a fee of $100-$175 to check your bike-case, and $25-$50 for your wheel bag or race essentials bag. Mind you, this fee does not always include adequate insurance coverage. As of November 2008, United Airlines and Delta Airlines both charge $175 each way to ship a bicycle.
    5. If several other triathletes traveling with their bike-cases are booked on your flight, you might find yourself missing the flight all together. The airlines will not fly luggage without its owner on the same flight.
    6. You may have to worry that your bike-case actually makes it to the same destination as you, at the same time, and in one piece.
    7. Renting a SUV or mini-van to accommodate the bike-case or cases costs you more in rental fees and fuel costs. Or, what if they are all out of SUV's and mini-vans? Wth an event like a major triathlon in town, everyone need a bigger ride.
    8. You will have to re-assemble your bike and hope that you build it up to fit you exactly the same as you had it before you took it apart.

Why should I use Tri Team Transport instead of that "bulk" bike transport company?

  • We provide first-class, high quality transportation service for our customer's bicycles and race gear.
  • Your bike and race esentials are handled with the utmost care and transported in our custom team bicycle trailer equipped with multi-layer alarm systems.
  • We will only transport as many bikes as we have racks for, so space is limited.
  • We are located in Austin, Texas, and cater to Texas triathletes who race nationally.
  • There are no hidden or processing fees charged to you when you register online or pay with cash or check. We do NOT send you to Active.com so you can spend even more money. We pass this savings along to our customers.
  • Our carge insurance policy covers your bicycle and race essentials for its current value. We do not charge you extra for insuring your items if its current value exceeds $1,000. Bulk carriers will charge you extra for insuring your bicycle.
  • Your bicycle will remain secure and dry in our trailer until such time as you claim it.

Do I have to dismantle my bicycle?
No dis-assembly is required. Your empty water bottles, saddle mounted or seat-post mounted hydration systems (dry), spare-tire/CO2 cartridge apparatus, race wheels and your cycle computer can all stay mounted to your bicycle.

Do I have to pack my bicycle in a bike-case?
No. A bike-case is not necessary for our transportation purposes.

My bike cost $4,000 new; will it be insured during transit?
Yes, your bike will be covered by our cargo insurance for its current value. If your bike cost $4,000 new and it is now 5 years old and has 20,000 miles on it, it will be covered for what it is currently worth. That is per our cargo insurance company. Please remember to declare the value of your belongings when you register.

Will Tri Team Transport stop by my house or where exactly do I drop-off my bike?
You would leave your bike at the team training centre in your area or partner multi-sport shops. We will stop by your residence if you have a special circumstance. See Tri Team Partners.

Where will I find Tri Team Transport at the race site?
When possible, we will be positioned near the transition area or race expo during packet pickup times if we are partnered with the race director. As with all venodrs, the race director will determine where and when we can set up. If we are not partnered with the race director, other arrangements will be made. We may be set up at the host hotel or other hotel near the race venue. We will notify you by email and you can get updates via Twitter and Facebook. Please follow Tri Team Transport for all updates.

Why is my event not listed on the schedule of events page?
Unfortuantely, we cannot serve every event. We are growing our business and are in the process of partnering with more race directors and more teams. We encourage you to let us know if you want us to add your event to our itinerary. We also highly recommend that you contact your race director and encourage them to partner with Tri Team Transport.

Why are there no partner multi-sport teams near my residence?
Unfortunately, we cannot stop at every multi-sport team training centre in every city. We are growing our business and are in the process of partnering with more multi-sport teams. We encourage you to let us know if you want us to add your city and multi-sport team to our itinerary. When we have enough athletes interested in our service from a specific area or region, we will add a stop-off point there.

I will not be able to attend my race, what is your refund policy?
Tri Team Transport will honor a 100% refund (less a $25 processing fee) to those who notify us within a minimum of 45 days advance notice before their scheduled event. After that, we will honor a 100% refund (less a $50 processing fee), or you may choose to receive a full credit toward another event we serve during the same calendar year. All refunds will be made in the form of business check and delivered via the US Postal Service.
